Joseph Longfield, wife of City Councilman Joseph Longfield. Her selection took place at a three-county parley held at Tagus Ranch last Saturday. Mrs. Longfield is to be secrctanr of the new tri-county Democratic organization of delegates. Erwin Shricr of McFarland was named president and Mrs.

Virginia Koran of Porterville vice president. Under bylaws of the new organization this council is to be comprised of a minimum of 14 members from three counties. Registered Democrats who endorse candidates other than Democrats will not be allowed membership, it was stated. Among those who attended the organizational meet were Rep. Harlan Hagen and Myron candidate' for Kings-Tulare assemblyman.

The next session is scheduled for Oct. 19 at Berkshires in Porterville. Two Kings Educators Attend Capitol Meets Gerald Jacobus, county superintendent, is in Washington attending a conference of the American Association of County School Superintendents, and an Oct. 4 to 6 conference on rural education. Four Face Drunken Driving Charges Here Four persons were jailed in Hanford over the weekend on drunken driving charges. Standard Oil company is drilling a new well in the Kettleman Middle Dome and is reworking an old well in field 3 of the Coalinga area. The Gilliland Oil company is drilling two wells in the Devils Den area, both known as the Miller unit. Two wells drilled in Tulare County have been abandoned.

One was drilled in section 28, 22 26 by Franco Western Oil company and the other in section 15, 22 27 by the Anthonian Drilling company. Law If for Profit SAN FRANCISCO UP The Bureau of Internal Revenue warned recently the traditional 100 square football and baseball pools, long considered fixtures in bars and clubs this time of year, are violating the federal wagering law if operated for a profit. Glen T. Jamiesoh, district director of the tax bureau in San Francisco, said persons operating such pools for profit must purchase a $50 occupational wagering tax stamp.
