Social Community News Wednesday Avenal Club Hears Nurse The Thanksgiving meeting of the Avenal Womans Club will be held Wednesday and will feature Mrs. Maureen A.

Conners, Avenal High School nurse, as guest speaker. Mrs. Conners will show slides on the Philippine Islands, where she was stationed for eighteen months as a Navy nurse. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the clubhouse.

After the slides and talk she will display some interesting momentoes of her stay. She and her husband, who is In the Navy, reside at Lemoore Naval Air Station. Also on the program is Mrs. John Briles, who will sing. Accompanying her at the piano will be Mrs.

Legal Secretaries Score Success Even Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse were smiling at the success of the Kings County Legal Secretaries annual luncheon and fashion show Saturday in the Hanford Fraternal Hall. An array of beautifully gowned women joined the secretaries for their annual fund-raising event. After a social hour, the guests were treated to long tables of excelent dishes prepared by the secretaries.

Each recipe had been "taste-tested during meetings in the summer before the final luncheon menu was selected. One of the highlights of the afternoon was the fashion show. Becky Gardner modeled a novelty knit poncho in orange, olive and brown with orange knit slacks and Pauline Johnson went one better with a black crepe jump suit. The luncheon co-chairmanned by Angie Brikey and RevaNehls had many behind-the-scene helpers including Alice Goodrich, Muriel Rader, Beulah Mann, Bonnie Casten, Beulah Mitchell, Alice Azevedo, Naydeen Brown, Vernice Thomsen, Edna Dillon, Louise Allen, Helen Reidt, Myrna Gaitan and Carolyn Ayres.
