2 Monday, December 1971 Solons Open Session Angry James R. Mills Saturday-charged Democratic Assembly-Speaker Bob Moretti had arranged the passage of the tax bill in the Assembly like a rat deserting a sinking ship. Moretti promptly retorted by-calling Mills attack personally motivated." He said "It would be irresponsible for us to adjourn without passing a measure to at least balance the governors deficit ridden budget. The tax bill would have raised $301 million to cover the deficit and imposed withholding of state income tax beginning Jan. 1.

Reagan said Saturday he would call the legislature into social session on reapportionment if the lawmakers asked him to. According to the highway patrol, Garcia was southbound on Highway 41 in the northbound lane when the accident took place. The Stewart vehicle, northbound, swerved to avoid the Garcia vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation. Apparently losing control after applying his brakes, Stephen A. Schafek, 19, of VA-127, Lemoore NAS, struck a guide wire to a telephone pole Saturday afternoon on Hume Avenue. According to the report, Schafek was southbound on 14th at the Hume intersection when the accident took place, causing moderate damage tohisvehicle. There was no citation and Schafek escaped without injury.

Lemoore police still are investigating an accident which, took place Friday afternoon in which a vehicle, driven by Virgil Lester Wells of 1208 Fernot Hanford, struck two parked COALINGA Sweepstakes winner in the 22nd annual Christmas Parade was Cub Scout Pack 174, under the direction of Mrs, Margaret Wilson, Deanna Lam, and Sherri Allen, all of Coalinga. RIVERDALE A Riverdale man is listed in satisfactory condition in Valley Medical Cen-ter in Fresno following a Saturday morning tractor accident west of here. Jose Ojeda, 37, was trapped under the tractor for hours after it overturned as he was driving it across acanal bridge. A crane from L. N. Ipson and Sons of Riverdale was brought to the scene to lift the tractor.

The accident took place on property owned by Vernon Swer-ingen at Dixenson and Mt. Whitney avenues. Annexation Hearings Scheduled Public hearings on three applications and two proposed anne-ations are scheduled to come before the Hanford Planning Commission when it meets at 7:30 p.m.

Sating, 57, of 11532 Santa Rosa was arrested by CHP Sunday for hit and run and drunken driving following a head-on collision on Kansas Avenue, just west of 16th Avenue. (Dick) Dutton, former Hanford Pharmacist, were held last Thursday in Santa Maria following his death in a Santa Maria hospital. A native of Los Angeles, Dutton graduated from the University of Southern California pharmacy school in 1930.

He had worked out of Fresno as a drug salesman, owned a drugstore in Tulare and in Santa Maria. In Hanford he was employed at Tomers Drugs and was active in civic matters. He was a member of the Elks club and a golfer. He is survived by his widowt Richard Loren Dill and Larry Elkins, both of 943 Leslie Lane, have something other than the weather to talk about today.
