After the guests had spent some time U.n social converse they were assigned to their places, at the fifteen tables, and the host and hostess were assisted in managing the games by their son, Keith. The watchman was therefore arrested, and was taken before Justice Meadows this morning, who sentenced him to either pay a fine of $20 or go to jail for a like number of days. Being out of funds he was sent to jail.

DEATHS DEWEY-In San Francisco, at 4 a. m. Wednesday, April 26, 1905. Anna Elizabeth Dewey, wife of Edward P. Dewey, of Sanger, aged 41 years, 1 month and 26 days.

A telegram received Wed. morn by F. V. Dewey, publisher of the Journal, announced the sad news of the passing away of his sister-in-law. Although the news was not unexpected, as deceased has been a sufferer from consumption for several years and her death has been expected at any time for the past two months, the announcement of the death is very sad news to her relatives, also to a number of intimate friends in Kings county.

The deceased was a most estimable woman--a loving mother, a faithful wife; patient in her long suffering; always having the best to say of every one, and ill of no one; a true Christian, who has gone to her reward in the world beyond, where the "weary are at rest." She leaves, beside her husband, two sons and a daughter, a mother, 4 sisters and a brother, to mourn her loss. The funeral took place in San Francisco Thursday and Mr. and Mrs. F. V.

Dewey, of this city, and Mrs. W. T. Dewey and daughter, Mabel, of Lemoore, left Hanford Wednesday evening to attend the funeral. Social and Personal odd Entertained Sunday School Class.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Noble, of this city, was the scene of most enjoyable occasion Tues.

night, at which time Mrs. Noble entertained her class of boys from the M. E. church (South) Sunday-school. The early part of the evening was devoted to playing all manner of games, and to a number of the boys, who in feats of agility proved to have "good, hard prizes consisting of handsomely colored Easter eggs were awarded.

The rooms were beautifully decorated with festoons of ivy and clusters of red, white and pink roses, and the center piece, at the refreshment table, was certainly a work of art and was an original conception of the hostess. It consisted of a very life-like hen seated on a genuine nest, and when it was announced that an egg hunt would be indulged in the boys naturally made a break for the "biddy," but they were fooled, for suspended over the table was a bunch of little ribbons, which, while twisted and intertwined, each led to a separate hiding place where an egg was concealed, one of which called for a prize of a handsome book. This was won by Jas. Lawrence. Each boy, however, received 2 souvenir in the shape of a whistle, found in the body of the old hen, which was ruthlessly torn to bits in the search for eggs.

The class were all present, with the exception of Raymond Clark, whose broken arm kept him at home. He was not forgotten, however, for as no one won the unique "Brownie" egg, it was sent to him by his teacher. The boys all voted the evening one of the most pleasant of their lives and so expressed themselves when bidding their host and hostess good-night. Those present were: Carlton Riggins, Horace Gould, Jas. Lawrence, Will Ladies' and Children's Ready Made Garments at the Abrams' Fire Sale! Tulare Dan has been assured of 180 square meals by being committed by Justice Randall to the county jail for 90 days.

He was rounded up by Marshal Frederick this morning, the charge against him being habitual vagrancy. Callisto Bianchi was administered lesson in Justice Randall's court yesterday, and henceforth he will have more respect for the law. He was fined five dollars for refusing to give his name to Deputy Assessor Rea. When brought into court he not only paid his fine, but his taxes as well. Joe Martinez was given a sentence of six months by Justice Randall yesterday afternoon.

The commitment was withheld, however, long enough for him to get out of town. He is a 'vag' of the worst type. Wm. Hill appeared in Justice Meadows' court this forenoon and pleading not guilty to the charge preferred against him by R. W.

Hall, namely, the 1. of stealing water from the Lakeside Ditch demanded a jury trial. He has retained Attorney R. J. Hudson 03 his counsel.
